Salesforce: Installation & Setup

This is a guide to help Salesforce Admins set up Qwilr for their team.

Note: This integration is only available on our Enterprise plan, and these settings are only available to Qwilr account admins. You'll need Salesforce Super Admin access to perform this setup.

Installing the Qwilr app in Salesforce

Step 1. Login to your Salesforce Admin account.

Step 2. Head to Qwilr's listing on the Salesforce App Exchange.

Step 3. Select Install for All Users.

You should not be prompted to pay for the app. If you run into any issues with installation, please get in touch with our team.

Now that you've installed the Qwilr app, you can add the Qwilr widget to page layouts in your Salesforce Lead, Contact, Opportunity, and/or Account objects.

Setup in Lightning

You can use these steps to add the Qwilr widget to any page layout. If you want to add it to more than one layout, just repeat these steps in each object. In the example below, we'll add it to the Opportunity layout.

Step 1. Head to the top right corner of Salesforce. Click the Gear icon and then choose Setup.

Step 2. In the top navigation bar, click the Object Manager tab.

Step 3. From the Object Manager menu, choose Lead, Contact, Account, or Opportunity. In this example we're choosing Opportunity.

Step 4. From there, choose Page Layouts from the left menu.

Step 5. Next, choose the Opportunity Layout. (If you've chosen a different object, you'll be choosing Lead Layout, Contact Layout, etc.)

Step 6. At the top of the page, select the Visualforce Pages option (you may need to scroll down to see it).

Step 7. First, click on the Section block. Drag this to the place you'd like the Qwilr widget to appear in your Opportunity page. You'll see a formatting pop-up appear. Name this section "Qwilr," and click the 1-Column button.

Step 8. Then go back to the Visualforce pages, and click and drag the Qwilr_Opportunity block to your new blank section.

Step 9. Head to the top right corner of the new section, and click the wrench icon. Change the height to 350 pixels and click Show Scrollbars. Then click OK.

Step 10. Lastly, save the new layout by heading to the top left corner and clicking Save.

You've now added the Qwilr widget to the Opportunity layout for all users in your Salesforce organization. Remember, you can also add Qwilr to your Lead, Account, or Contact layoutsby following these same steps.

Finding the Qwilr widget

To see the Qwilr widget, exit Setup and then head to any Opportunity record. Click on the Details tab.

The first time you (or any of your users) access the widget, you'll be prompted to connect your Qwilr account to your Salesforce account. This is a one-time process for each user.

Note: Qwilr matches the email address we have on file with the email address on your Salesforce account. If these do not match, you won't be able to connect your accounts. You can update your Qwilr email address in your account settings.

If this screen fails after clicking Connect Now for Creator users, make sure their profile has API Enabled (you can do this through Setup > Profile > The Profile the Creator user is under > Check Enable API in Salesforce)

What's Next?

Now that you have the integration set up, it's time to create a Salesforce template in Qwilr.

Setup in Classic

In this example we'll add Qwilr to the Contact layout, but you can use these steps for Account, Opportunity, and Lead pages too.

Step 1. To get started, go to any Lead record. Click Edit Layout in the top right corner.

Step 2. In the Contact layout tab, select the Visualforce Pages option (you may need to scroll down to see it). From here, choose Section and drag it to the place you'd like it to appear on your Contact page.

Step 3. Name the Section "Qwilr" and select the 1-Column Layout. Then click OK. Then drag the Qwilr_Contact block from the Object Manager into your new section.

Step 4. From there, click the wrench icon in the top right corner of the new section. Change the height to 350 pixels and click Show Scrollbars

Step 5. Click OK. Once that's done, you'll see the Qwilr widget in each Contact record.

What's Next?

Now that you have the integration set up, it's time to create a Salesforce template in Qwilr

Uninstalling

To uninstall Qwilr from Salesforce, remove the Qwilr widgets from all of the object layouts that you added them to. (To do this, follow the setup instructions above, but this time remove the widgets instead of adding them.)

Next, use the search bar to locate Installed Packages, and click on the result.

Click the Uninstall link for the Qwilr package.
