Salesforce: Installation & Setup

This is a guide to help Salesforce Admins setup Qwilr for their team. There are instructions for installation and setup in both Classic and Lightning.

Note: This integration is only available to Enterprise plan customers and these settings are only available to account admins. You'll need Salesforce Super Admin access to perform this setup.

Installing the App

  1. Log in to your Salesforce Admin account
  2. Head to Qwilr's listing on the App Exchange
  3. Select Install for All Users

That's all you'll need to do, you've now installed the app. If you run into any issues with installation, please get in touch with our team.

Once you have installed the Qwilr App you can have the Qwilr App visible on your Salesforce Lead, Contact, Opportunity, and/or Account pages. The way you'll add the app will differ if you're using the Classic or Lightning versions of Salesforce.

Setup in Lightning

When adding Qwilr to the different areas of Salesforce, the setup for each page is the same. In the example below we will add it for the Opportunity Page.

Step 1. Go to Setup via the Gear icon in the top right:

Step 2. From the left Navigation Bar click Objects & Fields → Object Manager:

Step 3. From the Object Manager menu, choose Lead, Contact, Account, or Opportunity. In this example we're choosing Opportunity. 

Step 4. From there, choose Page Layouts from the left menu.

Step 5. Next, select the Opportunity Layout. (If you've chosen a different object, you'll be choosing Lead Layout, Contact Layout, etc.)

Step 6. In the Object Manager at the top of the page, select the Visualforce Pages option (you may need to scroll down to see it). 

Step 7. First, click on the Section block. Drag this to the position where you'd like it on the Opportunity page. You'll see a formatting pop-up. Name this section "Qwilr," and click the 1-Column button.

Step 8. Then go back to the Visualforce pages, and click and drag the Qwilr_Opportunity block to your new blank section.

Step 9. Click the wrench icon in the top right corner of the new Qwilr section. Change the height to 350 pixels and click Show Scrollbars. Then click OK.

Step 10. Click Save in the top left corner of the Object Manager.

You have now installed Qwilr into the Opportunity Page for all users in your Salesforce organization. If you wish to add Qwilr to Lead, Account, or Contact simply follow the same steps for them from the Object Manager part of Setup.

To see the Qwilr App, head to any Opportunity and click on the Details tab.

The first time you or any of your users go to create a Qwilr Page you will have to connect your Qwilr account to your Salesforce account. This is a one time process for each user and once connected it will be connected going forward.

Note: Qwilr matches the email address we have on file with the email address used in your Salesforce account. If these do not match, you won't be able to connect your accounts. You can update your Qwilr email address in your account settings.

Setup in Classic

In this example we'll add Qwilr to the Contact layout, but you can use these steps for Account, Opportunity, and/or Lead too.

Step 1. To get started go to any lead and click Edit Layout in top right:

Step 2. In the Contact layout tab, select the Visualforce Pages option (you may need to scroll down to see it). From here you can drag a new section into the position you would like it on the Contact page, which will be shown below the Object Manager.

Step 3. Name the Section "Qwilr" and select the 1-Column Layout. Then click OK. Then drag the gray Qwilr_Contact icon from the Object Manager into the new Qwilr Section that you have just created.

Step 4. Once done, click on the wrench Icon in the top right of the Qwilr_Contact Section to go to Properties. Change the height to 350 pixels and click Show Scrollbars.

Step 5. Click OK. Once that's done Qwilr will now be available on the Contact page.


To uninstall Qwilr from Salesforce, remove the Qwilr widgets and buttons from all of the object layouts that you added them to.

To do this, follow the setup instructions given above, this time removing the components instead of adding them.

Next, go to the Installed Packages list by searching Installed Packages in the left sidebar on Setup page:

Click the Uninstall link for the Qwilr package:
