Add Recurring Pricing to Quotes (Beta)

Need to display a monthly, annual, or other recurring fee to your buyer?

The Quote widget can populate quotes or interactive pricing plans with accurate data from your CRM, or by you if you don't use a CRM. You can recommend the best options as a seller, and even upsell buyers with add-ons while you’re there!

But did you know you can showcase both recurring and one-time charges within the same quote? Let's take a look.

In this article:

Recurring charge in a Quote section

In the standard table-style quote, you can make either Fixed Cost or Variable lines into recurring charges. Depending on the quote, you might want to put all of your recurring charges into a separate section, or you can mix them in with your one-time charges.

To get started, fill out the fields of the line item. We recommend using a quantity of 1 in most cases. Then, click on the Pencil icon.

From there, choose Properties, and expand Price. Then, under Billing frequency, select Recurring and choose the recurrence you need from the menu.

With this setting in place, you'll see the Price column change to show that the line is recurring. These are also ready for mapping to CRM Variables.

Note: When you set a recurrence on a line item, the next new line you create will retain that same recurrence. If you don't need the new line to be recurring, repeat these steps and choose One Time from the menu instead.

Recurring charge in a Plan card section

If you're using plan cards for your quote, you'll be able to choose the billing frequency. Click on the unit price to get started.

From there, you'll choose the recurrence from the drop-down menu.

How recurring charges display in the quote

If you're using a Quote section, you might want to hide the Item and Quantity columns, so your buyer only sees the total and recurrence.

If you're using one-time and recurring charges in the same table quote, and added the Quote total widget, they'll be displayed separately, both in the section subtotal and in the quote total.

If you're using a plan card section, the recurrence you've selected will display in each card.

You might want to hide the quantity in this case too. To do that, click the Pencil icon, choose Properties, and deselect Quantity.

Removing the first installment from the Quote total widget

If you added the Quote total widget, then by default, Qwilr will add the first installment of each recurring charge to the total of your quote. Here's an example.

If you need to charge that installment later instead, you can remove it from the quote total.

Click the Pencil icon, choose Recurring costs, and disable Include in total.

That's it! The quote's Total section will now display the recurring charge, but not include the first installment in the total.

Recurring charges in the acceptance notification

If your page has an Accept Block, when your buyer accepts the page they'll get an email notification.

Qwilr includes recurring charges in this email. The quote total here will either include or exclude the first installment, depending on how you've set things up.

Collecting a recurring payment
